Since Ironman Wales I have been knuckling down with my training and planning my race season for 2018. I decided at the end of last year to embark on a new venture and assist other triathletes in achieving their goals and ambitions. I successfully completed my British Triathlon Level 2 coaching award and have been coaching a selected number of triathletes towards their target races. I am thoroughly enjoying helping others and passing on my knowledge and experience in triathlon. NFT is something I will be working hard at and showing my commitment to for this season and I’m looking forward to seeing the results from NFT clients. The 2018 season is a big year for me, with my A race being the Ironman World Championships in Kona Hawaii. I have a lot of hard training to get on with and part of that training I have decided to compete in the Lanzarote Ironman on May 26th. This race is going to be purely a training race, as I feel it is very similar conditions to that in Kona. Wind and heat are the main factors in Kona and I feel by racing in Lanza in May, it will help my preparation for October.
In other news, I am now a sponsored athlete for Team Tredz. I am absolutely delighted to be given the opportunity to race for Tredz and I am motivated more than ever to perform in my target races for 2018. I am extremely thankful to Mike Moore and the team at giant for everything they have done so far and I hope to repay them with a high-level performance in Kona. I have been lucky enough to have been provided with a Giant Propel Advanced 0 aero road bike, which I must say is an absolutely stunning bike. I have ridden the bike a couple of times and my first impression is that is a very fast bike. It climbs really well and the disc breaks allow you to descend sharp corners safely and at pace. I will be providing a full review of this bike once I have had the opportunity to take it out a few more times and also race on it.
I have a few events entered for the early part of the season. This is kicked off with Harlech sprint triathlon on March 25th. Harlech is a triathlon I haven’t competed in before and the aim for this race is to blow the winter cobwebs away and get back into the mindset of racing again. I will be racing on the new Giant bike and I cannot wait to get started racing for Team Tredz and NFT.
I will try my best to keep updating the website and keep an eye out on my social media channels for race results, photos and race reflections. I’m really looking forward to the 2018 season and I hope to see everyone on the local triathlon circuit.
